Meet our Coordinating Team

On this page, you can meet the people working behind the scenes to organise our weekly academic and social activities. The members of our coordinating team take on two complementary roles: they serve as coordinators, carrying out specific tasks that help our organisation run smoothly, and as board members, contributing to important decisions about our policies, activities, and future direction.

Organizational Team

  • Mare de Vries

    INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

The R2E community has been an important part of my life the past few years. I have loved attending social events and meeting new people, next to working on organizing R2E's activities as part of the coordinating team.

That is why I will continue to be part of the coordinating team in the role of Internal Communications Coordinator. In short, this means I will ensure that the board stays on track with all its duties, for which I will organize weekly meetings to discuss our ongoing tasks and projects. If you ever have any questions or just want to chat, don't hesitate to approach me!

  • Hanna Süßenbach

    EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

  • Pija Mikulskyte

    TREASURER & ACQUISITIONS

I am Pija and I am this year’s treasurer of R2E! I am a third year student at AUC and I joined R2E because I admire the idea and the purpose of R2E. I wanted to be part of a community that gathers and works towards a meaningful goal.

As treasurer, one of my main responsibilites raising money to ensure that we can continue and expand our activities, as well as making sure that R2E’s expenditures, plans, and activities are transparent.

  • Lina Görisch

    PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR

Academic Team

  • Alicia Diez Fernandez

    STUDENT COORDINATOR

My name is Alicia, and I’m one of the Student Co-Coordinators this year. I have been living abroad since I was 18, which has given me the chance to meet people from all over the world and realise how important language is in bringing people together and breaking down barriers. Combined with my love for volunteering, this naturally led me to look for a way to get involved when I moved to the Netherlands, and that’s how I found R2E.
I quickly fell in love with the welcoming and supportive atmosphere here.

As a Student Coordinator, I hope to help preserve that spirit and make sure every student feels comfortable, supported, and safe. I’m really excited for the year ahead and look forward to meeting you all!

  • Saanika Sudeep

    STUDENT COORDINATOR

My name is Saanika, and I am one of the three Student Coordinators this year. I first encountered R2E through my university, and was immediately drawn to its vibrant community and dual focus on language-learning and community building. As a trilingual person myself, I am well acquainted with R2E’s mission of connecting people through language and culture.

In my role as Student Coordinator, I will be the first point of contact for R2E students, and I am here to help with any questions or concerns that arise from the academic side of R2E. My job is to guide students through the full process of applying to and attending our classes, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and according to the students’ needs.

This year, I aim to make R2E a care-centred and inclusive space, where each student feels empowered to learn and build connections. I am excited to be a part of this team, and I look forward to the wonderful experiences it will bring!

  • Emilie Zacharias

    STUDENT COORDINATOR

I’m Emilie, one of three Student Coordinators this year, we are the first point of contact for R2E students.

Growing up in a multicultural environment where mixing languages was at the heart of everything, I realized early on how important it is to be able to communicate with others. This realization made me want to be part of something bigger, where I could help others learn English and Dutch, whilst being part of such a vibrant community.

This year, my goal is to ensure that R2E remains a safe environment for students, where they can feel part of an inclusive atmosphere. I am very excited to take on this role and look forward to meeting all of you!

  • Elena Forgione

    TEACHER & ACADEMIC COORDINATOR

I’m Elena, a third-year International Relations student at Amsterdam University College. I’m from Italy but I’ve also lived in Poland for a time, and I’m very passionate about language learning and teaching.

I initially joined R2E as an English teacher and I’m now one of the Teacher & Academic coordinators: my responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supporting all of our volunteer teachers!

  • New List Item

    TEACHER & ACADEMIC COORDINATOR

I’m Van, a third-year Biomed student at Amsterdam University College. I joined R2E because I believe in our mission of helping immigrants integrate into their new home, since I myself went abroad to study alone when I was 11. I've had 6 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language in Vietnam before coming to Amsterdam.

A large part of my work at Right2Education involves scheduling classes and trainings, as well as developing and updating our curricula.

Meet our Social Team

  • Carl Eickelberg

    EVENTS COORDINATOR

I’m Carl, and I am one of the two Event Coordinators on the team! I first got involved with R2E as a buddy back I arrived at Amsterdam University College, and as such was able to experience the events from the other end. The most wonderful thing about R2E events is that they are accessible for anyone and you can tell that everyone who joins is just there to have a good time.

Between learning and organizing the day, sometimes you just need to take a moment and do something with new people, have a chat, play some games and make some friends. I'm looking forward to seeing you at one of our weekly events soon!

  • Juliette Raffray

    EVENTS COORDINATOR

I’m Juliette, one of your Event Coordinators at R2E! I joined R2E this year because I love organising events and wanted to contribute to something that makes a difference (the best of both worlds!). A

s an Event Coordinator, I organise weekly activities where students can have fun, meet new people, and practise their language skills outside the classroom. From potlucks and art activities to quizzes and city tours, we try every week to come up with new ways to combine learning and fun!

  • Maike van de Pavoordt

    BUDDY SYSTEM COORDINATOR

My name is Maike, and as a Buddy Co-coordinator, I help people find a buddy for language and cultural exchange beyond the classroom.

I believe that we can support one another throughout our studies while having a good time together, and that speaking each other’s languages can contribute to deeper understanding and meaningful connections. That said, feel free to approach me for a chat whenever you see me around!

  • Liam Zimmermann

    BUDDY SYSTEM COORDINATOR

I’m Liam. I was a buddy for R2E last year and wanted to get involved more with R2E, so I decided to step on the organizational side of the buddy system.

Parallel to our language classes, our students can be paired up with a university student to practice their Dutch or English outside of their lessons. For me, this means getting university students to sign up as a buddy, managing spreadsheets when assigning buddy pairs and checking in with both sides during the period.

Throughout last year as a buddy, I met lots of people I normally wouldn’t have gotten in contact with and learnt so much that I’m motivated to keep our vision alive and prospering.
